Message from the CEO
In 1999, the Federation initiated the Guide to Good Employment Practices to champion the strong belief about the essence of employee engagement in driving business success and in the long run, the sustainable prosperity of our community. This commitment is more crucial now than ever as our workforce becomes more educated and sophisticated. While there is general consensus that not all clauses as stipulated in the Guide will be wholly relevant to organisations due to their different modes of operation, the core principle of treating employees fairly and with due respect is embedded throughout the Guide. Research around the world consistently concludes that business performance and good people management practices are closely linked. We earnestly plead for employers’ appreciation and dedication in advocating good employment practices in their workplaces. This third edition aims to address the latest employment environment through due consideration of related legislative requirements and best practices. Building harmonious employment relations requires effort from both employers and employees. Standing on the common ground of mutual respect, both employers and employees will always find their interests strongly tied together.
